A new article published by researchers from the Global Media and Internet Concentration Project examines the concentration of media, telecommunications, and Internet services in Mexico from 2019 to 2022.

The study analyzes 20 services across three layers of the networked media economy—infrastructure, traditional and digital media, and Internet services—and finds high and persistent levels of concentration. It highlights the continued dominance of América Móvil and Grupo Televisa, as well as the increasing concentration of digital services controlled by major U.S. technology companies. The article concludes by discussing the implications for media pluralism and the regulatory challenges Mexico faces in building a more competitive and diverse media system.
