Media Concentration Matters.
Media & Internet Economy
We cover more than two dozen media and telecommunication sectors.
Media Concentration
Who owns and controls the media?
The expanding role of planetary-scale Internet companies—Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Baidu, and Tencent—has triggered a new round of concern about who owns and controls the media, and the structure of the firms and the markets they operate in.
A three-step ‘scaffolding’ methodological approach.
We collect revenue and market share data for 24 media sectors on a firm-by-firm and sector-by-sector basis. The data is pooled, analyzed, and assembled into a comprehensive, birds’ eye view of the whole media system.
