The Global Media and Internet Concentration Project is pleased to share a new country study: “Concentration of the Communications, Internet, and Media Industries in Argentina (2019–2023).”

This article examines market concentration in Argentina’s networked media economy using CR4 and HHI indices. The analysis reveals a high overall level of concentration:

  • Applications, search engines, and browsers show near-monopolistic structures.

  • Social media networks are characterized by oligopolistic competition.

  • Telecommunications and internet infrastructure generate the greatest revenues, with the highest concentration in mobile and fixed telephony and somewhat lower levels in pay-TV.
